    Solution for intramuscular injection in cattle and sheep

     

    Active Ingredients:
    Each 1 ml contains active substance: Florfenicol - 300 mg

     

    What is the medicine for:
    Beef:
    For the treatment of respiratory diseases (BRD) caused by:
    Mannheimia haemolytuca, Pasteurella multocida and haemophilus somnus.

    Sheep:
    For the treatment of respiratory system infections caused by:
    Mannheimia haemolytuca and Pasteurella multocida sensitive to florfenicol.

     

    Therapeutic group:
    Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic.

     

    Contraindications:
    Do not use adult bulls and sheep, which are intended for breeding purposes.
    Do not use if known sensitivity to the active substance or one of the inactive ingredients.

     

    Side Effects:
    Beef:
    A decrease in food intake and temporary soft stools may occur during the administration of the drug. The treated animals will recover quickly and fully after the delivery of the treatment. Administering the drug by intramuscular injection may cause inflammatory lesions in the injection areas for 14 days. In rare cases anaphylactic hypersensitivity reactions (shock) have been reported in cows.

    Sheep:
    A decrease in food intake may occur during the treatment period. The treated animals will recover quickly and abundantly after stopping the treatment. Administering the drug by intramuscular injection may cause inflammatory lesions in the injection areas, for 28 days. Typically, these lesions are mild and transient.

    Target animals:
    Cattle and sheep only.

    Form of administration and dosage:
    Beef:
    Intramuscular injection - 20 mg / kg weight (1 ml / 15 kg).
    Inject twice, 48 hours apart, using a 16-gauge needle.

    Sheep:
    Intramuscular injection - 20 mg / kg weight (1 ml / 15 kg).
    Inject once a day for 3 consecutive days. Do not exceed a dose volume of 4 ml per injection area.
    Pharmacokinetic tests showed that the average drug concentration in plasma remained above MIC90 up to 18 hours after administration of the drug at the recommended therapeutic dose, the preclinical data provide support for treatment intervals of 24 hours against the relevant pathogens.

     

    How to use the product:
    Wipe the bottle cap before pumping each dose, use a sterile needle and syringe, in order to verify the correct dose, measure the body weight as accurately as possible, to avoid giving a lower dose than recommended. The bottle should not be punctured more than 20 times, so the user must choose the appropriate bottle size according to the target animals to be treated. When treating a group of patients at the same time, a permanent aspiration needle should be used in the bottle cap to avoid puncturing the cap many times.
    The permanent needle must be removed from the cap after use.

    milk:
    It is forbidden to use animals that produce milk for human consumption, including pregnant animals intended to produce milk for human consumption.

     

    Warnings:
    Special warnings regarding the use of the target animals -
    Use of the preparation should be based on sensitivity tests of a bacterium isolated from the animal.

    Special warnings concerning the safety of the use of the drug in animals -
    Do not give a higher dose than the recommended dose, or extend the treatment time than recommended.
    The safety of this drug has not been tested in sheep under 7 weeks of age.
    There have been reports of deaths in sheep that were treated with a preparation not in accordance with the registered indication, for the treatment of Salmonella of the abortus ovis variety.

    Special warnings concerning the safety of the person handling the preparation -
    The use or contact of the medicine should be avoided by people who are sensitive to florfenicol or one of the medicine's components.
    Be careful of accidental self-injection. In case of self-injection of the product, go immediately to medical advice together with the product leaflet.
    Avoid contact with skin or mucosa. In case of skin contact, immediately wash the area with water and soap. In case of contact with the eyes, immediately wash the eyes thoroughly with plenty of water.
    Wash your hands after using the medicine.

    Pregnancy and lactation in the treated animal -
    Tests in laboratory animals have shown no evidence of toxic potential to the fetus or offspring for florfenicol. However, the effect of florfenicol in relation to the activity of the reproductive system and pregnancy period in sheep and cattle has not been tested.
    For use after consultation with the treating veterinarian after cost-benefit risk assessments.

    Reactions with other drugs, and other types of interactions -

    overdose -
    Beef:
    Decreased food intake and temporary soft stools may occur during the treatment period. The treated animals will recover quickly and abundantly after stopping the treatment.
    Sheep:
    After administration of 3 times the recommended dose or more, a temporary decrease in food and water consumption was observed. Other side effects observed included an increase in cases of weakness, emaciation and diarrhea.
    Head tilt was observed after administration of 5 times the recommended dose, and this is probably due to irritation at the injection site in the neck.

    Incompatibility (incompatibility) -
    Do not mix this preparation with other preparations.

     

    storage instructions:
    • Prevent poisoning! This medicine and any other medicine should be kept in a closed place out of the reach of children and/or babies and by this you will prevent poisoning.
    • Do not use the medicine after the expiration date (Exp. Date) that appears on the package. The expiration date refers to the last day of that month.
    • Storage conditions -
       Must be stored at a temperature below - 25°C.
       Protect from light.
       Store in the original product packaging.
       After opening the package, the product must be used within 28 days.

    Instructions regarding the destruction of the preparation / enriched residues at the end of use:
    Any residue of a veterinary preparation or any waste obtained from the use of a veterinary preparation must be destroyed as toxic waste, not thrown into the sewer.

    What does the medicine look like and what is in the package:
     Florfenisan veterinary is a clear solution with a light yellow to yellowish color. Packed in polypropylene bottles with a content of 100 or 250 ml, closed with a rubber cap and an aluminum cover with a "flip-off" opening.
